Animal
Kinhood.

Portraits of those who never posed for a portrait.

Nineteen characters, each with a name, a story, a personality. Sort them however you want — by name, by animal, by habitat, by latitude or by conservation status. The mosaic stays the same. What changes is how you read it. Each portrait leads to its biography.

The census is alive.

Every move in the mosaic gets logged. The portraits are alive as long as someone looks at them — and this log mirrors what you’re doing right now. When you leave, another visitor arrives and the reading starts again.

§ 03 · Frequently asked questions

What you might want to know.

If you got here trying to understand what Animal Kinhood is — who makes it, how it’s made, how to buy it — these are the five questions that reach the studio the most.

What is Animal Kinhood?
The flagship project of the Yago Partal studio: a series of portraits of animals treated as people — with names, stories and personalities. Each portrait is an authorial photomontage made with digital collage technique over my own photography. Not AI, not promptography.
How many characters are published?
Nineteen so far. The first one, Mansa (African elephant), was published in 2012. The latest, Nala (aardwolf), in 2024. The studio publishes between two and five portraits per year.
How are they classified?
By five interchangeable axes: character name, animal species, habitat, latitude and IUCN status. Pick whichever you want from the axis bar in the header — the mosaic rearranges itself before your eyes.
Can I buy them?
Yes. The limited editions (Black 30 × 40, Black 60 × 80, XL 80 × 80 and XL 120 × 120) are numbered runs with a signed physical COA and Verisart + C2PA registry. For everyday pieces, the shop prints POD objects with each character.
Who is Yago Partal?
Yago Partal is the artist behind the studio. Based in Barcelona, he has been working on animal portraiture since 2012, first with the Zoo Portraits project and, since 2024, within the broader Animal Kinhood framework.
