Frequently asked.

I have gathered the most common questions (and some delightfully unusual ones) about my work and how the store operates. If something is still unclear after reading, write to me and we will sort it out.

Online store.

Orders, shipping, returns, payment

01 What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay securely by card (credit or debit) and, if you prefer, by PayPal. Depending on your country and device, additional options may appear at checkout when available.
02 Do you ship worldwide? How much does shipping cost?
We ship to most countries. If a product cannot be delivered to your address due to logistics or size restrictions, the checkout will let you know. Shipping costs are not included in the price and are calculated at checkout based on destination, product type, and available method.
03 How long will my order take to arrive?
Delivery is the sum of production/preparation + transit. Since items are made to order, there is a preparation time before shipping. The estimated delivery (and available method) is shown at checkout and may vary depending on the product, destination, and production center availability. You will receive tracking as soon as it ships.
04 Is Express shipping available?
Sometimes. If an Express option exists for your destination and your cart, it will appear at checkout alongside Standard. Not all products or countries support it. In some cases, a phone number is required for delivery.
05 Can my order arrive in multiple packages?
Yes. If you mix products with different packaging or routes (for example, prints, framed pieces, mugs, or backpacks), they may be shipped in separate packages with different tracking numbers.
06 Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?
It depends on your country regulations. For international orders, tariffs, local VAT/taxes, or processing fees may apply. These charges, if any, are collected by the customs authority or carrier and are typically the recipient responsibility.
07 How is the order packaged for shipping?
Packaging depends on the product, but the priority is the same: that it arrives undamaged. Prints typically travel in a tube or reinforced flat pack; framed pieces in rigid boxes with protectors; and clothing/objects in appropriate protective packaging.
08 Can I track my order?
Yes. When the order ships, you will receive an email with the tracking number. If your purchase is split into multiple packages, you will receive multiple tracking numbers.
09 Can I cancel or modify an order?
Since items are made to order, changes or cancellations can only be attempted if the order has not yet entered production. If you need to change something (address, size, variant), write to me as soon as possible with your order number.
10 What if I enter the wrong address?
If you spot an error, let me know immediately: if it has not yet entered production/shipping, we can try to correct it. If the package is already in transit, it will depend on the carrier. If it is returned due to an incorrect address or because it was not claimed, re-shipping may involve additional costs.
11 What if the tracking says "delivered" but I have not received the package?
First check your mailbox, building reception, and neighbours, and contact the carrier. If you still cannot resolve it, write to me with the order number and tracking so we can review the case.
12 What is your return or replacement policy?
Since these are made-to-order products, we do not accept returns for change of mind or wrong size/variant selection by default. If your order arrives damaged or with a production defect, write to me with the order number and clear photos (product and packaging) and we will sort it out. If you are buying as a consumer and your legislation recognises a right of withdrawal, write to me before returning anything so I can tell you whether it applies and the steps to follow.
13 Do you offer digital downloads of the artworks?
No. I do not sell digital files or downloads. If you want my work, the official way to have it is in physical format.
14 What currency are the prices in? Do they include VAT or taxes?
You can see prices in EUR and, depending on settings, in other currencies. The final total (shipping and applicable taxes where relevant) is always shown at checkout before you pay. For international orders, duties/taxes may be charged on delivery, depending on your country.
15 Can I buy as a company and request an invoice?
Yes. At checkout you can enter your billing details. If you need a specific adjustment (company name, intra-EU VAT, etc.), write to me with your order number.
16 Can I send an order as a gift?
Yes. At checkout you can enter a different shipping address and the recipient name. By default we do not offer gift wrapping or a printed card. The package is delivered in plain packaging (no supplier branding).
17 Does the package include an invoice or prices?
You will receive the order confirmation by email. The package may include a packing slip with order details (usually without prices). If you need an invoice, request one and we will issue it.
18 What do I do if an item is missing or the order arrives incomplete?
First check the shipping email: some orders are split into multiple shipments with different tracking numbers (for example, prints and mugs). If something is still missing, write to me with your order number and a photo of what you received.
19 What happens if my package is returned to sender (wrong address, "unclaimed," or customs)?
If a shipment is returned due to an incorrect address, not being claimed, or refusing import duties, we can re-ship it once it returns to the warehouse. Re-shipping usually incurs new shipping costs. Best practice: double-check your address at checkout and follow the carrier instructions if customs are involved.
20 Why do you ask for a phone number at checkout?
Some carriers and certain Express shipments require a phone number for delivery and to handle any issues. It is used only for logistics purposes (delivery and tracking).
21 Can I place a large order (multiple units) for an event, business, or interior design project?
Yes. For large orders, it is best to write first, I can help you organise sizes/variants and understand how shipments may be split. That way we avoid surprises with timelines and tracking.
§ 09.02

Products and collections.

01 What is Animal Kinhood? Is it the same as Zoo Portraits?
Animal Kinhood is the current name and evolution of my original series Zoo Portraits (2013). It keeps the same visual language (frontal portraits, clean background, anthropomorphic animals), but with revised characters and a new stage in the collection.
02 What products are in this store?
At yagopartal.com you will find open editions and everyday objects: matte art prints, framed posters, and daily-use products such as t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, backpacks, and mugs. Each product page details materials, dimensions, and available options.
03 Are there limited editions?
Yes, but they are managed in a separate space: editions.yagopartal.com. This store (yagopartal.com) is for open editions and objects.
04 What is the Black Edition series?
Black Edition is a more sober, premium chapter within Animal Kinhood (same family, different tone). If a piece is limited or has special conditions, it will be clearly indicated on its page or in the corresponding editions space.
05 Do prints include a Certificate of Authenticity?
In this store, open-edition products and objects do not include a physical certificate by default. Limited editions (when applicable) are managed in the editions space, where certificates and numbering are indicated.
06 What sizes and framing options are available?
It depends on the product. Each page shows the available sizes and whether there is a print-only or ready-to-hang framed option. If you are unsure which format fits your wall, write to me and I will advise with real measurements.
07 How do I choose the right size for t-shirts and hoodies?
Each garment has a size guide. Measure a garment you own that fits well and compare it to the chart. If you are between two sizes, going up usually works if you want a looser fit, going down for a cleaner one.
08 How do I care for an all-over garment so it lasts?
Wash on cold, inside out, with similar colours. Avoid bleach and dry cleaning. Iron on low. Exact care instructions are on the label and on the product page.
09 Will the colours look exactly the same as on my screen?
There may be small variations: every screen displays colour differently and, in print, paper and ambient light play a role. My goal is a faithful result, but if you need maximum accuracy (for example, to match a wall or a frame), write to me before ordering.
10 Are these portraits photographs, paintings, or digitally made?
I use a mixed process combining photomontage, collage, and digital illustration, starting from licensed photographic references. I integrate and paint digitally until the whole thing feels real, even though it is impossible.
11 What does "open edition" mean in this store?
An open edition is a piece available as long as the catalogue is active: it is not numbered or limited to a fixed number of copies. If you are looking for numbered editions, certificates, and premium finishes, they are at editions.yagopartal.com.
12 What is the difference between a matte art print and a framed poster?
The matte print is paper only (ready for you to frame however you like). The framed poster arrives ready to hang with a practical frame and a lightweight acrylic front. If you want framing freedom, choose the print; if you want to open the box and hang it, choose framed.
13 What do you mean by "practical frame"?
That it is a functional and clean option: it arrives assembled with hardware, designed for easy hanging. We do not sell it as artisanal "gallery" framing or a bespoke service.
14 What paper do you use for the matte prints?
We use a heavy-weight matte paper (189 g/m2) with a non-gloss finish. The "Materials & quality" page has the full technical spec and care recommendations.
15 What size do you recommend: 12x12 or 18x18?
It depends on the space and the effect you are after. Quick rule: 12x12 works very well in corners, hallways, shelves, or compositions; 18x18 feels more prominent and holds its own on a large wall. Tip: mark the size with painter tape on the wall before deciding.
16 Do the prints have gloss? Are reflections noticeable?
The prints in this store have a matte finish, designed to minimise reflections. The framed poster has an acrylic front: in certain lighting it may reflect slightly, like any front protector.
17 Do the all-over designs align perfectly at seams?
All-over garments are printed, then cut and sewn so the design is integral, but in manufacturing there may be minor tolerances at seams and edges. It does not change the character or the use, but avoid "millimetre-perfect" expectations.
18 Where are the products manufactured?
They are produced at international production centres and, when possible, close to the destination. The exact facility depends on the product, size/variant, and current availability. That is why timelines can vary.
19 Do the products carry branding or a supplier label?
They are delivered in plain packaging: the package does not include the production partner branding. On garments and objects there may be care/fabric labels from the product itself, but no supplier "advertising."
20 Is the coloured-interior mug microwave and dishwasher safe?
Yes. It is safe for the microwave and dishwasher. To extend the finish life, gentle washing is recommended when possible.
21 Are there age restrictions on any product?
Some products may have an age restriction (for example, certain mugs: not suitable for children under 18 months). If applicable, it will be indicated on the product page.
22 Are the garments unisex? How do I choose between men/women/youth/kids cut?
It is not just about size: the pattern changes. If you want a straighter fit, the men cut usually works; if you prefer a more tailored pattern, the women. Youth and kids are patterns and sizing designed for younger wearers. Each page has a size guide with measurements.
§ 09.03

Commissions and licensing.

01 Can I commission a custom portrait or special project?
Sometimes yes, depending on the type of commission and my calendar. The best approach is to write to me with a brief overview (what you need, intended use, timeline, and rough budget) and I will quickly let you know if it fits.
02 I work for a company/NGO/publisher: can we license your images?
Generally, yes, with a clear agreement (use, territory, duration, exclusivity, and attribution). There are specific projects whose rights I do not manage directly and that require third-party authorisation; if that applies, I will tell you from the start.
03 Are there uses of your work that are not permitted?
Yes. Any commercial use without a licence is not permitted (for example, reselling my images or using them in advertising without an agreement). If you have doubts about a specific use, ask me first and we will clarify.
04 If we are interested in a licence or collaboration, how do we start?
Send me the details (pieces, intended use, channels, territory, duration, and timeline) and I will propose terms. If it works, we put it in writing so everything is transparent.
05 If I buy a product, do I have the right to use the image in my project or brand?
Buying a product gives you a physical piece, but it does not include commercial use rights for the image. If you want to use it in branding, packaging, campaigns, editorial, apps, or products, you need a licence. Write to us with the use case and we will share conditions.
06 Can I print the artwork myself (at another lab) or resell the file?
No. The images and designs are protected by copyright. If you need a special format or use, the proper way is to order it as a product in the store or arrange a licence.
§ 09.04

Sustainability and ethics.

01 How do you reduce the environmental impact of the store?
The foundation is print-on-demand production: items are made when you buy, avoiding surplus and unsold stock. Whenever possible, production is placed close to the destination to reduce transit, and packaging is chosen to protect without over-sizing.
02 Does my purchase help conservation causes?
There is no fixed percentage applied automatically to all sales. I sometimes collaborate with projects or campaigns linked to conservation and animal welfare; when there is a donation or concrete action, it is communicated explicitly.
03 Are animals used or harmed in creating these portraits?
No. Everything you see is composition and digital work. I do not dress or disturb live animals to create these images.
04 What message or values do you want to convey with your work?
I seek empathy and connection. By portraying animals with a human twist, I try to make you look twice and stay with a question: what does that character say about us. There is also a clear respect for wildlife and for what is different.
05 What about microfibres in synthetic textiles?
In synthetic textiles, washing can release microfibres. If you can, use a wash bag/filter and avoid aggressive wash cycles.
06 Why do you work with print-on-demand production?
Because only what is bought is made: it reduces stock, warehousing, and overproduction. It also allows producing closer to the destination when available, which can reduce shipping distances.
07 Do the textiles have certifications?
In some pieces, yes. For example, the fabric of the all-over tote has OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification (per the product spec). When a certification applies, we indicate it on the product page and/or in "Materials & quality."
08 Is the wood in the frames responsibly sourced?
The framed posters use a frame specified as coming from renewable forests. We do not make additional claims if they are not documented for that specific variant.
09 What can I do to reduce the impact when caring for synthetic garments and bags?
Wash on cold, avoid aggressive cycles, and if you can, use a wash bag/filter to reduce microfibres. Air drying also helps extend the garment life.
§ 09.05

About the brand and the artist.

01 Who is Yago Partal?
I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona, focused on conceptual portraiture. I combine photography, collage, and digital illustration to create characters—animals, humans, or hybrids—each with their own narrative.
02 How did it all start? What is the story behind Zoo Portraits and its evolution into Animal Kinhood?
I started building portraits as an experiment: taking realism and pushing it towards the impossible. Zoo Portraits was the beginning; Animal Kinhood is its evolution, with a revised cast, improved technique, and a new stage in the series.
03 Do you only create animal portraits, or do you also make other kinds of work?
My focus is conceptual portraiture, but it is not limited to animals. I also work on human and hybrid characters, and more intimate or experimental series.
04 Where can I see your work in person? Do you have exhibitions or a physical gallery?
Much of my work lives online, but I sometimes take part in temporary exhibitions or collaborations with institutions and venues. I do not have a permanent gallery of my own. When there are events, I announce them on the website or social media.
05 How can I contact you if I have more questions or need help?
Write to me at mail@yagopartal.com. If it is about an order, include the order number and the email used for the purchase. You can also send photos by WhatsApp (messages only) to +34 644 44 20 03.
06 What is "The Backroom" and what is it for?
It is my section of short guides: how to choose a size, how to decide between framed or unframed, basic care, and buying without doubts. It is designed so you can decide quickly and with confidence.
07 Is the website available in multiple languages?
Yes. The store is shown in multiple languages and currencies. If a translation sounds off, let me know: I would rather fix it before it becomes confusing.
08 How do I hear about new releases and updates?
The most direct way is the newsletter (if you choose to sign up). I also post news and process on social media. We do not send spam: if it does not add value, it does not get sent.

Thank you for reading. Adding a piece or a character to your home (or your daily life) should feel easy: clear, no weird surprises, and solid support behind it. If you still have a question, you know where to find me.
