§ 12 Custom work asynchronous in writing

Custom commissions.

A commission is not "pick and pay." It is a short conversation to see if the project makes sense for both of us. If the brief fits my work, I take it seriously and carry it through. If it does not, I will tell you early so neither of us wastes time.

§ 12.01What kind of commissions I accept.

I work with private collectors, institutions, and commercial projects. My territory is portraiture and character construction — the blend of human and animal as mirror, without moral lessons.

Commissions that tend to work well:

  • One-of-a-kind piece for a home or private collection.
  • Covers and editorial — books, magazines, cultural campaigns.
  • Campaign imagery — branding, advertising, product launches.
  • Visual concept for audiovisual — film/series poster, key art, character worlds.
  • Collaborations and licensing when the usage is well defined.

Animal Kinhood is one of my ongoing series. If the commission involves that universe, I am open to it as long as I can maintain coherence and detail.

§ 12.02What I don't do.

Better to be upfront:

  • Copies or "versions" of other artists' work.
  • Fan art of third-party IP or copyrighted characters without authorization.
  • Projects that ask me to imitate styles that are not mine.
  • Commissions involving messages or uses that clash with my ethics (hate, discrimination, propaganda).
  • Briefs with impossible deadlines or without a realistic budget (even a range helps).

§ 12.03How it works.

  1. 01You send me a brief (see the checklist below).
  2. 02If it fits, I propose an approach, terms, and budget.
  3. 03We agree on timeline and scope (and, if commercial, usage/license).
  4. 04I produce the work and we close/deliver as agreed.

§ 12.04What I need to evaluate your commission.

Copy-paste this into your first message — the more clarity here, the faster I can say yes or no and propose a path:

  • Who you are — individual, studio, brand, or institution.
  • What you need — one-of-a-kind piece, cover, campaign, etc.
  • Intended use — private or commercial.
    • If commercial: media/channels, territory, duration, and whether you need exclusivity.
  • Format — digital, print, or both — and dimensions if applicable.
  • Dates — when you need it and why.
  • Budget — a range is fine.
  • References — 2–5 links or images, and what interests you about them.

§ 12.05Send the brief.

The form mirrors the checklist above. On submit it opens your email client pre-filled.

WhatsApp (messages only):

If you write via WhatsApp, it helps to include your email too — things stay tidier when a commission has multiple steps.

If you think your idea fits, write me with the brief and we will take it from there.
