That Depends
In his story, when someone wants a quick answer, Benjamin says "that depends" or "we'll have to see," and he won't commit until he's checked. He takes his time because he won't promise what he hasn't seen yet. When a piece of equipment gives strange readings, he doesn't swap it out on the spot: he checks the data from the last few days and finds the fault. When something really goes wrong, he touches the silver chain around his neck without meaning to, and talks even less. It's his quiet way of thinking out loud.
