The Aurora He Didn't Keep
In his story, he once saw the most beautiful aurora of his life up north, green and purple, moving slowly. He took a photo with his phone, looked at it, and deleted it. "You don't capture it," is all he says if the subject comes up; putting a filter on it strikes him as disrespectful. What he did do was draw it for a friend on a sheet of report paper, in ballpoint pen, crooked. She framed it. Some things only exist if you live them, not if you keep them.
