Men's t-shirt
Some people don't fit in anywhere else, and they carry it with ease. This men's axolotl t-shirt is for that kind of person. It carries Ikal, an axolotl facing forward in a red plaid shirt and denim jacket, from my Animal Kinhood series.

Ambystoma mexicanum
Working the chinampa means caring for the water where the last axolotl lives.
Endemic exclusively to the canals and chinampas of the Xochimilco lake system, in Mexico City, at 2,240 metres of altitude. It inhabits the muddy beds of cold fresh water (between 6 and 20 °C), among aquatic vegetation such as ahuejote and water lily, in low-current zones. Its historic habitat also included the now-extinct lakes of Chalco and Texcoco.
On the t-shirt goes the portrait, as is: an axolotl with pale pink skin, red feathery gills open like a crown, and a wide mouth curved upward. Underneath, the red plaid shirt over the worn blue denim jacket. I created him facing forward against a plain background: on the chest it reads clean, close up and from a distance. The two reds — the gills and the plaid — are the only warmth of color against the blue of the denim.
Ikal is one of the ones who stays. Not for lack of options, but because what he knows how to do — read a canal, look after the water — only makes sense in the place where he was born. This t-shirt is for people like that: the ones who put down roots where they are and don't treat it as a sacrifice.
