Backpack

"Nope, that doesn't get thrown out. Let me see if it can be fixed." That's what Ikal would say, and that's why this axolotl backpack carries him: an axolotl facing forward in a red plaid shirt and denim jacket, from my Animal Kinhood series.

Axolotl.

Ambystoma mexicanum

Working the chinampa means caring for the water where the last axolotl lives.

Endemic exclusively to the canals and chinampas of the Xochimilco lake system, in Mexico City, at 2,240 meters of altitude. It inhabits the muddy beds of cold fresh water (between 6 and 20 °C), among aquatic vegetation such as ahuejote and water lily, in low-current zones. Its historic habitat also included the now-extinct lakes of Chalco and Texcoco.

The axolotl riding on your back

On the backpack rides Ikal's portrait: an axolotl with pale pink skin, red feathery gills open like a crown, and a wide mouth curved upward, as if something amused him. He wears the red plaid shirt and the worn blue denim jacket. I created him facing forward against a plain background: he reads at a glance when you cross a lobby or head down into the subway, with nothing around to steal his spotlight.

Made to last, like its owner

Ikal is about repairing before replacing: what comes apart gets sewn back up, what breaks gets a second look to see if it can be fixed, and it almost always can. A backpack you're going to carry every day — to class, on a trip, or to work — inherits that same way of treating things: use it, take care of it, make it last. If you're going to sling it over your shoulders every morning, it might as well carry an axolotl with his head on straight up front. Who Ikal is and where he comes from, you can read in his story.

§ 07What people ask.08 · about POD
  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • It depends on two things: which piece it is and where it goes. Posters, the mug, the tote and the backpack ship from Europe: 4-7 business days to Europe, 2-4 to the UK, 2-6 to the USA and Canada, 6-22 to the rest of the world. T-shirts and the sweatshirt are made in the United States, so they take considerably longer to reach Europe: 9-25 business days, 7-10 to the UK, 4-10 to the USA and Canada, 5-17 to the rest of the world. Every figure already includes making the piece, since each one is produced when you order it. You will see the exact date for your shipment at checkout.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • Animal Kinhood is a series of anthropomorphic animal portraits created by Yago Partal. Each portrait features a real species dressed in clothing that reflects its personality, blending photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence.
  • Yes. You have 14 calendar days to withdraw, with no need to give a reason (TRLGDCU arts. 102-108). Return the product unused and in its original condition; return shipping is at your expense and any loss of value from handling beyond inspection is deducted (art. 108.2). Your statutory guarantee of conformity also remains fully in force: any product arriving damaged or with a defect is replaced or refunded at no cost. Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com.
  • Since products are made on demand, different items may be manufactured at different facilities. Posters, mugs, and backpacks are often shipped separately. Each package has its own tracking number.
  • Yes. You will receive an email with a tracking number when your order ships from production. If your order ships in multiple packages, you will get a separate tracking number for each one.
  • If you notice a print defect (misaligned colours, stains, missing ink areas), contact us with photos at mail@yagopartal.com. Production defects are resolved with a replacement at no extra cost.
