What's endearing about Alek is behind that calm. In his story he fixes any breakdown brought to him — an outboard, a dockside radio, someone else's bilge pump — but in his living room he's got an engine pulled from a dumpster, taken apart for months, missing two parts he could order in five minutes and doesn't. Finishing it would leave him with no excuse to keep it there. It's his little contradiction, the one that makes him endearing: the one who fixes everything except his own. Wearing this puffin is wearing that way of being.

His way of loving people is that: fixing what breaks for them without charging the third time, having the coffee thermos ready for whoever's working the night shift, showing up with the toolbox when someone doesn't know how to ask for help. He never says it out loud. I created it clean and front-on: it reads well and holds up to daily wear. As a gift it suits someone with a calm manner who appreciates things done right.
