Carcharodon carcharias

First you watch the sea. Then you watch the people. You decide who to protect from whom.

Temperate and subtropical waters worldwide, with concentrations off southern Australia (the Neptune Islands), South Africa, central California and New Zealand; it favors continental shelves and coastal zones between 5 °C and 25 °C, but it dives below 1,000 meters and makes transoceanic crossings in open water.

The dock at seven

On Friday evenings, Lowanna walks down to the dock at Port Lincoln. Every week. Rain, southerly wind, or that dry inland heat that sometimes reaches the coast and leaves your mouth parched. Fridays are Fridays.

Five lifeguards and two fishermen. Sometimes six and three, depending on the season. Someone brings an esky — the portable cooler that in Australia is practically street furniture — loaded with beers, water, the odd soft drink. They sit on the edge of the dock with their legs hanging over, or on the plastic crates the fishermen leave leaning against the railing. No table. No protocol. The dock at that hour belongs to them because nobody else comes down.

Port Lincoln has fifteen thousand people. The tuna industry, the harbor, the Neptune Islands seventy kilometers to the south. It's a town where everyone roughly knows what everyone else does, and where the dock at seven on a Friday evening is the closest thing to a bar without walls you're going to find.

Esky and southerly wind

One Friday, someone brought up a new operator from Adelaide who'd set up shark tours in the area. "Pure carnage tourism," one of the fishermen said. Lowanna listened. Drank. Didn't say anything for five minutes.

Then she spoke for eight minutes straight. The difference between responsible shark diving and shark baiting, the data on behavioral impact, the protocols that exist and the ones that should. Nobody interrupted. When she finished, one of the fishermen looked at her and said: "You should write that down."

She laughed. "Nah, mate. Just needed someone to hear it."

§ 07 What people ask. 08 · about POD
  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • Production normally takes 2-5 business days. Shipping adds 3 to 20 days depending on destination. Most orders arrive within 1-3 weeks total. Exact times depend on the production facility and your location.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • No. No animals participate in or are harmed during the process. The portraits are created combining photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence. They are fictional characters representing real species with respect and dignity.
  • Yes. At checkout you can enter a different shipping address from billing. The package arrives white-label with no visible price, so the recipient will not see the cost.
  • AI generates intermediate fragments of the creative process — references, poses and, for wild species, part of the animal's visual base — never the final piece. Yago directs each portrait: researching the species, designing the character, and building the result by hand in Photoshop, layer by layer. The artistic decision is always human.
  • On-demand production eliminates surplus stock and overproduction. Each product is manufactured only when someone orders it, drastically reducing material waste and the footprint of unsold inventory.
  • Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping costs vary by region and product type. You can see the exact cost at checkout before confirming your order.
