Cooper.

Mug

The first coffee of the day, in the dark, before anyone asks anything of you yet: everyone knows that feeling. This koala mug is for that moment. It carries Cooper, a koala in a Hawaiian shirt, from my Animal Kinhood series.

A koala up before anyone else

In his story, Cooper does the breakfast show at his town's station, six to nine, for free, just because he loves it. And the first thing, always, is coffee: black, nearly boiling, from beans he buys at one specific place, because he doesn't trust the ones from the servo. That stretch of time in the dark, with the valley still asleep, is one he protects more than any other part of the day. Even if you don't do radio, you probably have your own version of it: that first coffee before everything starts.

The mug that was his Nan's

I created him facing forward with a clean background: the portrait is what runs the show on this mug. There's one detail from his story that gives it meaning: the mug Cooper uses every morning was his grandmother's — he called her Nan — and to him it's worth more than any other. With the things he loves and no longer has, he does the only thing he knows how: gives them a place and carries on. That's why this simple mug fits him so well. If you like this koala, there's more about him in his biography; and if you'd rather have him on the wall, the same portrait is available as a poster.

  • Yes. The mug is dishwasher and microwave safe. It is lead-free and BPA-free ceramic. To keep the print looking perfect as long as possible, avoid washing with highly abrasive products.
  • Yes. We accept custom commissions of all kinds: pet portraits, corporate projects, and artistic collaborations. Visit the Custom Projects section in the footer for details and contact.
  • No. No animals participate in or are harmed during the process. The portraits are created combining photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence. They are fictional characters representing real species with respect and dignity.
  • AI is a tool within the creative process, not the process itself. Yago directs each portrait: researching the species, designing the character, and manually selecting and editing the result. The artistic decision is always human.
  • Open editions (main shop) are on-demand products with no copy limit. Limited editions (the Editions section of the shop) have controlled numbering and premium finishes with gallery-grade materials.
