The face that sizes you up before answering
What you see is a calm hare in a mustard turtleneck and a plum headband, looking straight ahead. No gestures. That restraint is what I was chasing when I created her: the sense that an answer is forming and hasn't come out yet.
In her story, Olwen answers after a pause, as if the question had to cross the whole field before reaching her. And what she says, once it comes, doesn't move from there. The print holds that instant just before: the polite silence of someone who doesn't talk to fill space.
