Tote bag

A kakapo tote bag, made of cotton, with the portrait of Kiri printed on it. Kiri is a character from my Animal Kinhood series, where animals dress and live like people: a middle-aged kakapo, with a direct expression and no smile. It does what bags are for, which is carrying things from one place to another.

It doesn't have to be tonight. Just say the word.

Temperate rainforest in New Zealand. Today it survives only on predator-free sanctuary islands — Whenua Hou, Pukenui/Anchor and Hauturu — plus one fenced mainland enclosure.

A Bag Missing Two Clasps

In her story, the bag she works with belonged to her mother. The handle is worn down to the weave and it's missing two clasps, and she won't replace it. Every week she empties it completely and goes through it: boil, dry, put away, and back into the case. It's been two years since she last opened it to work. She checks it just the same. If you ask her why, she answers that it's about keeping things in their place, and that's where the conversation ends.

The Notebook With Blank Years

She keeps the people's birth register herself, in a hardback notebook with no elastic band to close it. One page per year, and a fair few pages without a single line. None of those pages is an oversight. They're the years nobody was born on the island: the kakapo only breeds when the rimu fruits, every two to four years, and in the years between the birth count is zero. Kiri writes the year at the top, checks there's nothing to record, and turns to the next one.

§ 07What people ask.08 · about POD
  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • It depends on two things: which piece it is and where it goes. Posters, the mug, the tote and the backpack ship from Europe: 4-7 business days to Europe, 2-4 to the UK, 2-6 to the USA and Canada, 6-22 to the rest of the world. T-shirts and the sweatshirt are made in the United States, so they take considerably longer to reach Europe: 9-25 business days, 7-10 to the UK, 4-10 to the USA and Canada, 5-17 to the rest of the world. Every figure already includes making the piece, since each one is produced when you order it. You will see the exact date for your shipment at checkout.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • The tote bag is 100% spun polyester (225 g/m2) with 67 cm dual cotton denim bull handles. It holds 10 litres and supports up to 20 kg. The fabric carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification.
  • If you notice a print defect (misaligned colours, stains, missing ink areas), contact us with photos at mail@yagopartal.com. Production defects are resolved with a replacement at no extra cost.
  • Open editions (main shop) are on-demand products with no copy limit. Limited editions (the Editions section of the shop) have controlled numbering and premium finishes with gallery-grade materials.
  • Each portrait combines photography, digital illustration, and AI-generated fragments under Yago's artistic direction: AI supplies intermediate material — references, poses, textures — never the final output. The process includes species research, character design, and detailed manual construction — photomontage, light, color, and illustration — built layer by layer in Photoshop.
  • Yes. You have 14 calendar days to withdraw, with no need to give a reason (TRLGDCU arts. 102-108). Return the product unused and in its original condition; return shipping is at your expense and any loss of value from handling beyond inspection is deducted (art. 108.2). Your statutory guarantee of conformity also remains fully in force: any product arriving damaged or with a defect is replaced or refunded at no cost. Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com.
