Kiri.

Women's t-shirt

A women's kakapo t-shirt with the portrait of Kiri, a character from my Animal Kinhood series, where animals dress and live like people. Kiri is a kakapo with mottled green plumage and a direct expression, no smile; in her story she's a midwife on an island in southern New Zealand.

It doesn't have to be tonight. Just say the word.

Temperate rainforest in New Zealand. Today it survives only on predator-free sanctuary islands — Whenua Hou, Pukenui/Anchor and Hauturu — plus one fenced mainland enclosure.

What Hine Never Explained

In her story, Kiri started going along with her mother at fourteen. Her job was to hold the lamp and keep quiet. It took her two years to notice that Hine handed her the instruments in the wrong order. It was never carelessness: always the same crooked order, so the daughter would have to guess which one came next and get ahead of it. When Kiri understood it, she said nothing and kept holding the lamp. She doesn't remember a single conversation where her mother explained anything about the trade. Not one. And everything she knows, she knows because of her.

Nobody Asks Who Anyone's Father Is

The kakapo is the only parrot in the world that mates in a lek system: males display in courtship arenas and boom, females travel long distances to choose and then leave. There's no pair bond. The female incubates, feeds, and protects the chicks alone.

On Kiri's island nobody asks who anyone's father is: women raise their children alone, and that's not told as a biographical fact. She raised her two children like every other woman there. The one time an outsider asked her if she didn't feel lonely, it took her a while to understand the question. One of them is still on the island; the other crossed over to Pukenui and calls rarely.

§ 07What people ask.08 · about POD
  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • It depends on two things: which piece it is and where it goes. Posters, the mug, the tote and the backpack ship from Europe: 4-7 business days to Europe, 2-4 to the UK, 2-6 to the USA and Canada, 6-22 to the rest of the world. T-shirts and the sweatshirt are made in the United States, so they take considerably longer to reach Europe: 9-25 business days, 7-10 to the UK, 4-10 to the USA and Canada, 5-17 to the rest of the world. Every figure already includes making the piece, since each one is produced when you order it. You will see the exact date for your shipment at checkout.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • Check the size guide in each product tab. Measure a t-shirt that fits you well and compare with the length and width measurements. The t-shirts have a regular fit, neither slim nor oversized.
  • AI generates intermediate fragments of the creative process — references, poses and, for wild species, part of the animal's visual base — never the final piece. Yago directs each portrait: researching the species, designing the character, and building the result by hand in Photoshop, layer by layer. The artistic decision is always human.
  • Yes. You will receive an email with a tracking number when your order ships from production. If your order ships in multiple packages, you will get a separate tracking number for each one.
  • Since products are made on demand, different items may be manufactured at different facilities. Posters, mugs, and backpacks are often shipped separately. Each package has its own tracking number.
  • Yes. You have 14 calendar days to withdraw, with no need to give a reason (TRLGDCU arts. 102-108). Return the product unused and in its original condition; return shipping is at your expense and any loss of value from handling beyond inspection is deducted (art. 108.2). Your statutory guarantee of conformity also remains fully in force: any product arriving damaged or with a defect is replaced or refunded at no cost. Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com.
