This print captures what you see: a koala facing forward, the wide black nose, the big ears, and the floral shirt — pink, orange, and blue hibiscus — as the only splash of color against the blue-grey background. I created him this way, facing forward and with nothing around him: on a wall, he reads in a single glance. In his story, Cooper is the breakfast announcer at his town's radio station, and that thunderous voice doesn't match his face at all. Whoever hears him on the radio and then sees him takes a second to put the two together.

Cooper lives in Wauchope, a town in the Hastings River valley, on the coast of New South Wales, Australia. He's never left. Every dawn he crosses the fog to the community station and gives the valley its good mornings in that deep voice, while almost everyone's still asleep. This poster takes that portrait from his story and puts it in your home. With no distracting glare, it works just as well in a hallway as on a desk.
