In his story, Cooper isn't the type to stress about much of anything. He gets up at five for the radio, delivers things during the day to cover the rent, and when something goes wrong, he takes a breath and drops his "she'll be right." Not out of laziness — out of real calm, the kind that's catching. I created him looking straight ahead with an open background: on a T-shirt, a portrait like this works from a distance. Here's Cooper's best joke: looks like a sleepy stuffed toy, and then, out of nowhere, a diesel-engine voice the moment he opens the mic. Anyone who only knows him from the radio pictures him twice his size. In summer, on top of that, his voice gets even deeper without him knowing why; he blames it on the heat.
