Women's t-shirt

Togar has drawn everything from his mother, and this women's orangutan t-shirt carries his portrait: that of a Sumatran infant from my series Animal Kinhood, a little one who still won't leave her side.

He gets it all from her

Togar's whole life, short as it is, fits entirely into a single figure: his mother, Tiur. There's no teacher, no group of infants, no one else to teach. There's a female who goes through the canopy looking for food and a little one behind her who watches everything she does and tries to repeat it at once. That's how his people work: an infant spends years glued to its mother and gets everything from observing her, with no one to give it a lesson. For Togar, learning is simply his way of being with her. Each gesture he gets a little better at is a while longer on the same branch, at her side. Tiur, for her part, knows her son has a very long way to go, and doesn't rush him: she lets him watch, get it wrong and try again at his own pace, the way they did with her when she was the little one of the canopy.

Seven years, or nine

There's a figure that explains almost everything: between seven and nine years. That's how long an orangutan's childhood glued to its mother lasts, the longest there is in the animal kingdom after that of people. No other mammal infant depends so long on a single figure. And it's because the mother has a single young every several years and raises it all by herself, with no help, wholly devoted to teaching it the entire forest before it's time to walk it alone. That's why Togar's bond with Tiur is so deep, and why he's in no hurry to let go: he has years of learning at her side ahead, and he knows it. He doesn't live it as a wait: among his people that's exactly the norm, two who go together through the canopy, without bustle or crowd. This t-shirt carries that particular stage, the one of the little one still living attentive to his mother, with all the calm of a childhood that's going to run long.

  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • It depends on two things: which piece it is and where it goes. Posters, the mug, the tote and the backpack ship from Europe: 4-7 business days to Europe, 2-4 to the UK, 2-6 to the USA and Canada, 6-22 to the rest of the world. T-shirts and the sweatshirt are made in the United States, so they take considerably longer to reach Europe: 9-25 business days, 7-10 to the UK, 4-10 to the USA and Canada, 5-17 to the rest of the world. Every figure already includes making the piece, since each one is produced when you order it. You will see the exact date for your shipment at checkout.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • Animal Kinhood is a series of anthropomorphic animal portraits created by Yago Partal. Each portrait features a real species dressed in clothing that reflects its personality, blending photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence.
  • Yago Partal is a visual artist and photographer from Barcelona known for Zoo Portraits (2013), a project that brought his work to international media. Animal Kinhood is the evolution of that artistic exploration.
  • On-demand production eliminates surplus stock and overproduction. Each product is manufactured only when someone orders it, drastically reducing material waste and the footprint of unsold inventory.
  • The t-shirts are 96% cotton and 4% elastane, weighing 189 g/m2. The fabric is soft with a smooth surface, ideal for all-over printing. They are pilling-resistant and colourfast after washing.
