Mug

This mandrill mug suits you if you take your first coffee without wanting to talk to anyone. It carries Ndong's portrait: blue-and-red mask, orange beard, and an orange hat pulled down to his eyebrows, over a plain teal background.

Tropical lowland rainforest across west-central Africa: southern Cameroon, mainland Equatorial Guinea, Gabon — home by far to the largest population — and the southwest of the Republic of the Congo. It favors primary forest and dense ginger thickets, and also turns up in forest-savanna mosaics like those of Lopé.

The Thermos He Doesn't Share

In his story, behind the cab seat Ndong always keeps a liter thermos he has no intention of sharing with anyone. Next to it, on the same toolbox, he leaves two cups — not one — in case the train chief happens to come aboard halfway through the run and fancies a coffee at that hour. He's never needed to use both cups at once. Doesn't matter: they stay there, set out, waiting for a visit that almost never comes.

The Carriage at Two in the Morning

In his story, the best part of Ndong's shift comes around two in the morning, when the carriage goes completely quiet: nobody standing, nobody talking, just the noise of the rails. The mandrill barely has a tail: a stump of seven to ten centimeters that linked it to baboons for years, until genetics placed it closer to mangabeys. This mug, like the rest of the collection, is made to order: each piece ships only when someone requests it, never before.

§ 07What people ask.08 · about POD
  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • It depends on two things: which piece it is and where it goes. Posters, the mug, the tote and the backpack ship from Europe: 4-7 business days to Europe, 2-4 to the UK, 2-6 to the USA and Canada, 6-22 to the rest of the world. T-shirts and the sweatshirt are made in the United States, so they take considerably longer to reach Europe: 9-25 business days, 7-10 to the UK, 4-10 to the USA and Canada, 5-17 to the rest of the world. Every figure already includes making the piece, since each one is produced when you order it. You will see the exact date for your shipment at checkout.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • Yago Partal is a visual artist and photographer from Barcelona known for Zoo Portraits (2013), a project that brought his work to international media. Animal Kinhood is the evolution of that artistic exploration.
  • Yes. At checkout you can enter a different shipping address from billing. The package arrives white-label with no visible price, so the recipient will not see the cost.
  • On-demand production eliminates surplus stock and overproduction. Each product is manufactured only when someone orders it, drastically reducing material waste and the footprint of unsold inventory.
  • No. No animals participate in or are harmed during the process. The portraits are created combining photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence. They are fictional characters representing real species with respect and dignity.
  • Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping costs vary by region and product type. You can see the exact cost at checkout before confirming your order.
