Framed poster

Ndong has spent eight years in a rented room behind the Owendo market without hanging a single thing on the walls, and this framed mandrill print is just the opposite: a framed piece, ready to go up the day it arrives. It carries his portrait, from my Animal Kinhood series, where every animal has clothes, a city, and a job of their own.

Tropical lowland rainforest across west-central Africa: southern Cameroon, mainland Equatorial Guinea, Gabon — home by far to the largest population — and the southwest of the Republic of the Congo. It favors primary forest and dense ginger thickets, and also turns up in forest-savanna mosaics like those of Lopé.

Eight Years, Not One Wall Used

In his story, Ndong's room is one room: a hot plate, a chair, and a fan he doesn't switch off even in the dry season. Eight years there, and the walls look the same as the first day. He does have belongings, but they're all somewhere else, deep in the forest, at his mother's house. When someone from the line comes up to visit him, they're surprised, and he doesn't explain.

Kilometer Marker Forty-One

Before he drove trains, he learned the kilometers by walking them, a bar over his shoulder, out ahead of the track crew. Even today, when he passes the level crossing at kilometer marker forty-one, he knows the ballast on the left sinks with the rains, and he slows down a little early without thinking about it. It's the kind of thing you don't learn from a manual. The mandrill, by the way, is the largest monkey on the planet: an adult male weighs about what a seven-year-old child weighs.

§ 07What people ask.08 · about POD
  • Each product is made to order when you place your purchase. There is no pre-made stock or overproduction. A specialised production partner prints, cuts, and prepares it specifically for you.
  • It depends on two things: which piece it is and where it goes. Posters, the mug, the tote and the backpack ship from Europe: 4-7 business days to Europe, 2-4 to the UK, 2-6 to the USA and Canada, 6-22 to the rest of the world. T-shirts and the sweatshirt are made in the United States, so they take considerably longer to reach Europe: 9-25 business days, 7-10 to the UK, 4-10 to the USA and Canada, 5-17 to the rest of the world. Every figure already includes making the piece, since each one is produced when you order it. You will see the exact date for your shipment at checkout.
  • Contact us at mail@yagopartal.com with your order number and clear photos of the damage (include packaging). We will review your case and offer a solution as soon as possible, either replacement or refund.
  • Yes. We accept custom commissions of all kinds: pet portraits, corporate projects, and artistic collaborations. Visit the Custom Projects section in the footer for details and contact.
  • No. No animals participate in or are harmed during the process. The portraits are created combining photography, illustration, and artificial intelligence. They are fictional characters representing real species with respect and dignity.
  • If you notice a print defect (misaligned colours, stains, missing ink areas), contact us with photos at mail@yagopartal.com. Production defects are resolved with a replacement at no extra cost.
  • Posters are available in two sizes: 12 x 12 inches (approx. 30 x 30 cm) and 18 x 18 inches (approx. 46 x 46 cm). The square format is part of the series' visual language.
  • Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping costs vary by region and product type. You can see the exact cost at checkout before confirming your order.
