First he climbs up and looks from on high
As a kid, John would climb the ridge that overlooks Duluth, the one that looks down on the lake from above, and stay a good while watching the ships come and go from the harbor before coming down to do anything. He learned young that decisions come easier from up high, and he hasn't changed his method. It's his way of going through life: take it all in, calmly, and then act. A calm, watchful bald eagle, the kind that don't throw themselves in headlong. The t-shirt carries that look of his, fixed and alert, with the white head and yellow eyes.
