Matte poster
This long-eared bat poster is the portrait of Gavino, a watchmaker from my Animal Kinhood series, my gallery of animals that dress and live like people. It's a print ready to frame, with his face straight on against a plain background: the bow tie, the herringbone vest and those long bat ears that, in his story, let him fix watches by ear.

Endemic exclusively to Sardinia; Mediterranean forests of holm oak and cork oak on limestone terrain, with refuges in inland caves (Supramonte, Gennargentu).
Bright light tires him, so he opens the workshop when the rest of Nuoro closes and works with the lamp turned down almost all the way, a small circle on the green cloth. He crosses the room in the dark without bumping into anything, reading each corner by how it sounds. When someone is surprised he doesn't switch on the fluorescent light, he shrugs: With all that light I can't tell what's what.
