Framed poster
Framed and ready for the wall, this framed long-eared bat poster carries the portrait of Gavino, a watchmaker from my Animal Kinhood series, where the animals dress and live like people. It arrives mounted and ready to hang, with his face straight on, the bow tie and the herringbone vest against a plain background.

A stopped watch isn't dead. Most of the time it's just lost its pulse for a moment.
Endemic exclusively to Sardinia; Mediterranean forests of holm oak and cork oak on limestone terrain, with refuges in inland caves (Supramonte, Gennargentu).
He was asked to restore the stopped clock in the tower of a parish church in the neighborhood, and after months of tiny parts he set it going. The next morning the bells struck the right hour for the first time in years, and for a while Gavino's quiet trade sounded out for the whole of Nuoro at once. He diagnoses faults by ear, without opening the movement until he knows where it's limping.
In an entrance it welcomes you in; in a study it sits behind you on calls. It goes with wooden furniture and warm light, and it holds up on walls where a loud color would wear thin. It's made when you order it.
