# Yago Partal · Animal Kinhood

> Yago Partal is a visual artist based in Barcelona (studio since 2003). He builds characters from scratch — beings somewhere between human and animal, real and imagined. Animal Kinhood (since 2012) is his ongoing series: characters each given a name, a real species and an anchor culture, released as signed limited fine-art editions and as print-on-demand objects.

The work is authorial digital photomontage: each portrait is hand-built as a mixed-media digital collage — licensed photography, textures and AI-generated fragments used as intermediate source material, never as the final output — assembled, painted and finished in manual layers across hundreds of iterations. The composition and authorship are the artist's; the final work is a human-authored composite. The catalogue is treated as a catalogue raisonné — when it closes, it closes for good, with no reprints. Editions are authenticated with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity plus on-chain registration (Verisart) and embedded content credentials (C2PA).
